Session notes from mental skills session with client:

Name - Alex

Sport - Soccer

Position - Goalkeeper

Session 1

MBTI and mental skills evaluation completed pre-session.

Alex evaluated a recent strong game, believes he played well due to level of opposition, how do we maintain this level against lesser (perceived) opposition?

Alex believes h/t is a difficult period in terms of maintaining focus and intensity. As a solution Alex will create 'triggers' such as (BCE)...body language, communication, energy. These can be used to 'trick' the mind to looking ready, and therefore being ready.

Setting goals are a second technique to improving mentality in second half. Alex will look at process and performance goals at half time, and based on where he is at, this will be motivation to either maintain performance (if doing well), or to lift performance (if behind on goals). Against (perceived) lesser opposition, Alex will be competing against himself, and therefore the level of opponent will be somewhat irrelevant.

Finally, Alex is to visualize his first game as a pro. As vividly as possible Alex will see, feel, hear, smell everything that goes with this experience. By doing so, when faced with difficult choices, Alex will see this so vividly that positive decisions will be made everyday to push Alex closer to ambitions as a player.
